Health Benefits of Drinking Alkaline Water

The benefits of drinking alkaline, ionized water are well-known among health-conscious individuals.  Some skeptics questioned the validity of many of the health claims, but now independent research is beginning to prove a connection between consumption of alkaline water and health benefits. Montana State University professor Dan Heil found that drinking alkaline water with a high content of minerals seems to be beneficial to one's health. The experimental group that drank alkaline water had significant increases in blood and urine pH after the second and third week. This same test group indicated higher levels of hydration. These changes reversed once people switched back to non-mineralized water in the fourth week. The health benefits are seen only when alkaline water is consumed regularly.
